When it comes to plus size style, the key is not to wear clothing that is frumpy or tent-like. If you want style and class, follow these special guidelines to look great out on the town or at your favorite club.
First of all, many designers today, unlike years past, are making plus size clothing. Even as short as five or seven years ago it was harder to find high designer plus size clothes. Most classy fashion was made for the tall skinny model-type women. When clothes shopping, look for clothing with great fit and structure.
- Find a structured jacket that will match whatever else you buy. Jackets offer amazing style and class. The structure of the jacket can give the appearance of an hourglass figure even if you don’t have one.
- Stay away from really small accessories such as a tiny bag or dinky jewelry. Pay close attention to the proportions when it comes to accessories and bags.
- An espadrille (casual flat or heeled sandal) is big for spring and summer. It’s the ideal shoe for a larger woman because it’s light and it has the right proportion. The espadrille has some solidity to it and it still has the airy feeling for summer.
- Stay away from fabrics that cling too much. They may cling in the wrong places. Look for materials that are a bit heavier than stretch polyester. Heavier cottons are a great choice.
- Avoid thick horizontal stripes. Thin close-together horizontals are okay as from a distance they can look like solids and add to a balanced appearance.
