Plus Size Women’s Maternity Fashion Tips

Being plus size and pregnant can have challenges all on its own. If you are expecting a little bundle, you might be frustrated by your wardrobe and how many items no longer fit, as well as a problem in the store getting anything to look right. Instead of running to frumpy one-size black attire, check out a few of these fashion tips for a pretty, glowing appearance that states, “I’m happy I am pregnant.”

  1. Ditch the black and go for happy colors. This is a time to celebrate, not mourn.
  2. Choose a dress with a colorful cloth band that lies just below the breast. This tells the world you have happy news, and it helps support your tummy as well.
  3. Buy yourself a pair of cargo pants with elastic waist. This will keep you comfortable while allowing you to grow.
  4. Display your curves in the right way. When choosing your outfit, try not to put too much emphasis on areas you don’t want to stand out. For example, if you do not want to amplify your breasts, wear a shirt with a higher neckline and avoid low button-downs or low V-necks.
  5. Match a short jacket with a longer shirt. The longer shirt will help give your body a more elongated appearance.
  6. Wear an all-over print to distribute weight more evenly, keeping the emphasis off any one particular area.
  7. Tunics with bust control are great for upper trimester pregnancies.
  8. Try an outfit with print design added to a solid color. Add print design to the upper portion of the body, which will give the illusion of a more balanced appearance.
