Plus Size Fashion: Make a Corset Work for You

Many people think corsets are a thing of the past – or worse, a fashion torture device. But, as plus size fashion, corsets can be your best friend.

Think about the purpose of a corset; originally they were used to give women an hourglass figure, even plus size women. They accentuate the bust and cleavage and pull in the middle.

Today, corsets are not “one size fits all,” however.  The plus size corset is a new popular fashion trend.

There are different types of corsets for various fashion reasons. Some corsets are simply made to look good. They are worn under the clothing to do what the “old fashioned” corsets used to do – shape the woman into an hourglass.

And then there are corsets made for fun. They are worn outside any clothing (generally alone) and are generally black or red, in lace or even leather. These are personal corsets that make “nighttime activities” more interesting.

A plus size corset adds emphasis to your figure and holds you all together. No bulges, sags or dips. And the corsets made today can be quite soft and comforable, rather than rigid and ribbed. It will take inches off your waist, however, you need to make sure whatever corset you wear fits you properly.  Too loose and it will be obvious, too tight and you might not be able to move or breathe properly.

Corsets can raise your self esteem. If you are wearing one properly under your clothes, people will see a younger, slimmer you. You would be surprised how many women you admire are wearing a corset.
