History Lesson
The Leslie Fay Company makes its home in New York City. Founded by Fred Pomerantz in 1947, who had created dresses for the women’s army corps during WWII. The company was named for his daughter and offered department stores substantial profit margins for carrying the company’s line of stylishly conservative women’s wear. The fashion industry in general was enjoying a period of prosperity in the mid-1980s, and Leslie Fay was growing fast. Leslie Fay and other garment industry companies, though, were subject to the ups and downs of fashion, and Leslie Fay watched its stocks rise and dip. Despite several periods of buyouts, renames and management changes, Leslie Fay Company survived.

Leslie Fay, as with other fashion makers, moved from dresses only to dress suits, pants suits and tops. At Thrifty Plus Size, you can find not only fantastic Leslie Fay attire, but also that of  Diane Roberts, Jillian, Breli and Lady Carol.
