Usually, the biggest tip for a sleeker, taller or slimmer you is to wear black. But, if you are tired of looking like you’re heading out to a funeral, don’t worry. There are many other fashion dos that can help your wardrobe give you the look of a debutante.
Try a monochromatic look. Simply put, black is not the only single-color hue that can give you the look you seek. How about a nice charcoal grey blouse, beige scarf and a pair of grey or off-white capris? Add a pair of charcoal pumps for a sleeker, sexier you. To keep a monochromatic look from getting dull, mix different materials and textures, keeping the pattern uniform.
Wear a blazer or cardigan with a few buttons undone, as well as a contrasting color or textured blouse or under-shirt beneath. This helps allow for maximum vertical lines. If you wear a texture with stripes, be sure they are vertical and not horizontal. Horizontal lines offset the side to side balance of your figure where vertical off-sets (and accentuates) top to bottom.
Wear tops with a V-Neck. This will bring down your front and create an elongated appearance.
Skirts should be kept long rather than wide. You don’t want to wear a skirt that is wider than it is long.
Long scarves with dangling ends, both in front, or one in front and one in the back. Make sure again that the scarf you use is of a neutral color that complements the outfit you are wearing. Regardless of what color you choose, make sure, also, that your hose and shoes all match one another.
Don’t wear big belts as they can accentuate certain areas you might not want accentuated and they make you look shorter by visually cutting you in half.
Don’t wear only long or short, wide or thin, pieces. You want to mix and match. Remember to keep a conformity to your look, even when mixing and matching.
Watch your neckline. Don’t wear short necklaces or chokers. Instead, wear a long, complementary necklace or pendant. If you wear a V-Neck top, keep the necklace just a touch shorter so that it falls evenly along the seam of the neckline.
With these tips in mind, you can make yourself look stunning at any social gathering, or at any time.
