Plus Size women have fashion nightmares just like any size woman, the key to avoiding them is knowing what cuts and styles fit your body shape and personal look the best.
One part of finding your perfect look is the cut of your Plus Size Blouse’s neckline. Every woman knows the difference that a simple change in neckline style can make on an outfit and total look. What most women don’t realize is that they consistently choose the same type of necklines because it may be the most familiar or because it looks great on a model. Understanding what looks good on you, however, will help you zero in on that style and make your shopping trips go faster and produce real and stunning results!
Plus Size Neckline Styles
Especially for plus size women, the shape or cut of the neck opening, including collar or trim can make or break the way you look. Here are some common styles:
- The boat neck neckline is one of the least flattering for plus size ladies. It creates a broad line emphasizing width of the shoulders, upper chest and bust.
- The draped cowl in a few instances can be flattering for plus size women, if the material is very soft and thin and the cowl drapes flat against the body. If the cowl is heavy, as in a pullover sweater, or stands out from the body, it likely will accent the bust line – and add unwanted pounds.
- The crew neck is incredibly popular in tee shirts, sweatshirts, and suit blouses. The crew neck falls just about where the shoulder meets the neck. If you have a larger neck it can sometimes be uncomfortable because it can feel binding. If you are a short-necked person or if you have excess skin on your chin, a crew neck may accentuate it. It may not work well with double-chins.
- A scoop neck, sometimes called a jewel neck, is a very flattering cut for Plus Size women’s blouses. The lower scoop makes wider shoulders look narrower, gives focus to the collarbone and accentuates your breasts without exposing them too much.
